Fear of Fire

I am no stranger to fire.
The spark of life.
Life: the opposite of nothing.

I myself have been known to brew
over an open flame
But never before
have I been the cauldron.

And now
I am afraid.

Ask me why
and I'll have no answer.
What is it that makes us feel?
Our spirit?
That flickering light within us all
that makes us each unique?

There is no recipe for fear.

No ingredients to gather
or measurements to make.
Fear just is.

I fear not death.
For it is nothing
and pain will never last.
I've said my farewells
to this changing world.
She will live on in my absence.

Then what
am I afraid of?

Nothing:
The opposite of life.

Ooh! Ooh! I know which monster you are! .But I won't say Which
...So glad to see you back, Dave. Quite timely, because WordArc just got this weird wave of poems.
